LILLIES

My watercolour paintings of otters in water capture movement, light, and atmosphere in a uniquely fluid way. The transparency of the medium perfectly reflects the nature of water itself — soft washes blending into ripples, deeper tones suggesting hidden depths. An otter gliding across the surface creates shimmering reflections that distort trees, sky, and riverbanks into abstract patterns of colour. Browns and silvers of wet fur contrast with blues and greens beneath, while mirrored shapes dance around the animal’s form. These reflections are never exact, but broken and alive, adding energy and mystery to the scene, making the whole environment part of the story.
